The Staff of Friuli Terrace is involved in a variety of administrative, direct services and supports for the tenants and clients from the Vaughan community.
On-Site Property Manager
(Part of Property Management Firm)
The On-site Property Manager takes care of all requests for housing in The Terrace. The 113 units in the building are designed as either `Rent Geared to Income/Subsidized Rent’ or ‘Market Rent’ and are processed accordingly. Interviews, documentation, details of meetings with families, all this information is gathered and presented to York Region Housing and the Board of Directors
Director of Social Services
(Reporting to the Senior Property Manager)
The Director of Social Services (D of SS) is responsible for the implementation, supervision and assessment of tenant care needs. The Director is responsible for the supervision of the Personal Support Workers (PSW) and the Day Staff, assessing potential tenants for the building and ensuring the operation of the Day Program. The D of SS is instrumental in the development of polices and procedures, ensuring documentation for the Support and Day program, supervision of Health and Safety compliance and ensures that the programs are in compliance with LHIN requirements. The D of SS is responsible for the hiring of PSW and Day Staff, advertising of programs, educational training and scheduling of PSW. PSW assist tenants with the following: bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication and laundry, on a 24 hour basis as required. The D of SS supervises Social Work students and PSW students. There are also office, IT, payroll, and security responsibilities and is on call 24/7. The Director provides information about services at The Friuli Terrace and other social services to individuals in the community.
The D of SS coordinates other required services for the tenants such as, transportation, doctors, hospital admissions and discharges, completed forms for tenants, arranging CCAC services and other community agencies services. Provides information to the LHIN’s and completed required documentation.
The D of SS requires a recognized degree in social work, health and gerontology and years of experience to ensure that the programs, services and staffing have the appropriate support and supervision. Certificates in First Aid and CPR are also required.
Adult Day Program Coordinator
(Reporting to the Director of Social Services)
The Adult Day Program (ADP) Coordinator is responsible for the operation of this program. This integrated program is designed to meet the needs of frail and isolated seniors those that have suffered a stroke, early dementia or other neuromuscular issues. The program is designed as an ethnic specific social recreational program with the goal to maintain individuals in the community and provide much needed respite to the families. The ADP Coordinator is responsible for the day to day operations of the program, the supervision of staff and volunteers, responding to the needs of the clients and their families. The Coordinator provides information to potential clients and assesses their level of ability to participate in the program. The ADP Coordinator’s ability to manage all components of the program is pivotal to the success of the program and to the clients/family having a rewarding experience. The ADP Coordinator requires an education in activation, gerontology and the ability to supervise staff and volunteers, as well as, to attend to the needs of the clients and their families. Certificates in First Aid and CPR are also required.
Activities Coordinator
The Activities Coordinator for a large senior apartment needs to have an appropriate education, much experience and many skills. The Activities Coordinator is ‘central’ to have an active and rewarding place to live. Tenants, especially those who are lonely or not well, need to have someone to ‘look out’ for them, encourage them to be involved, to give of themselves, to challenge themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Other Friuli Terrace Staff
There are a number of other full-time and part-time employees that are an integral part in maintaining a clean, safe and active environment at The Friuli Terrace. Staff is also comprised of a full-time superintendant, part-time cleaners, a security tenant and Bus Driver.
